For such a long time we have lived and breathed poverty, especially in the developing world,
It has been a sorry state for quite some time,
The story of NGOs flooding these nations called 'Third world nations' with aid has done more harm than good.
I have travelled in rural parts of this lovely country Uganda,
I have seen first hand the mentality of people when they see a 'white person' coming up to them.
We always expect to receive, everything from these people, why? Well, they come out there and
give us anyway, all we have to do is receive with open arms.
I despise that, if for such a long time they had taught those poor people how to fish, rather than hand them food, we would be a wealthy nation.
I love this quote; reason is self explanatory, "give a man fish, feed him for a day, teach him how to fish, and you will have fed him until the river is contaminated.."
If all these NGOs that front aid would follow the same approach, we wouldn't have a problem.
Ok, am I a feminist, yes I am, there is a problem with the above quote, here is why...
"Teach a man to fish, he will eat for a life time", what about a woman? we are on our own!
Yes, we are, that is why over 60% of women in rural Uganda have nothing to do but sit home and wait for their husbands to bring food to the table.

Do you know how much power we are throwing out by not caring for the women? Alot!
Women are the most passionate, able willing people I have met. They go an extra mile to perfect any task given to them, that is why Solar Sister is the definition of hope to women in rural Uganda.
Do not expect to get it for free, they say. We have come to trade with you! We know you have the ability to sustain your families, pay your children's school fees, buy that nice outfit. Put on your working shoes and lets do business! How easy can this get?
A social enterprise that empowers women in rural Uganda get an extra income, have a much safer environment they live in by lighting up their families using a much cleaner solar powered energy, eliminating fire breakout scares due to candle frames, respiratory diseases due to inhalation of dangerous fumes, and Children being able to read even at night to improve their grades!

That is what Solar Sister brings to the table. It is an "Each one reaches one" approach, women selling to women and men. Now the quote is complete, and in my own words, I have re-written it.
"TEACH A WOMAN TO FISH, SHE EATS FOR A LIFETIME"
